Full of anticipation, we announce the theme of this year’s European Conference in Herrnhut, Germany, from 24-26 October 2025:
“Don’t let yourself be hardened in these hard times…”
Resist, reconcile, transform
…and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26)
Every year we invite our members and anyone interested to meet at our European conference to share their experiences, learn together, pray and encourage each other.
“Don’t let yourself be hardened in these hard times…” are the first words of the song “Encouragement” – written by the GDR songwriter Wolf Biermann, who was banned from performing in public. And ecumenical tradition also features such courageous people. The 500th anniversary of the Anabaptist movement, more than 300 years of the Moravian Church, 100 years of Quakers in Germany, 35 years since German reunification – these are all reasons to remember the peace-loving, courageous people who stood, and still stand, for resistance, reconciliation and non-violent change.
We need your stories of encouragement and therefore we cordially invite you to a wonderful and hopefully beneficial time in an eastern corner of Germany, almost in Poland.
For the first time, we will also be streaming the conference live. Those of you who are unable to attend this year for health or scheduling reasons can now at least follow the presentations and the church service online.
We also want to provide childcare and maybe even a children’s programme again – so there are hardly any excuses left not to be there!
